Call for Proposals“Visions of China’s Future Governance: An International Perspective”Association of Chinese Political StudiesThe 32nd Annual Meeting and International SymposiumHosted by Zhejiang University, School of Public Affairs and the Journal of Chinese Governance (JCG), Hangzhou, ChinaJune 21-23, 2019
The Association of Chinese Political Studies (ACPS) will hold its 32nd annual meeting and international symposium between June 21-23, 2019 in Hangzhou, China. Since its founding in 1986, ACPS has provided a platform to bring together Chinese political studies scholars from around the world. ACPS now has nearly 1,000 individual members from more than a dozen countries across four continents.
ACPS is pleased to announce that Zhejiang University School of Public Affairs will host the conference. Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of China’s top higher education institutions, as well as one of its oldest; its roots can be traced back to 1897 and the founding of the Qiushi Academy. The University is organized across seven faculties and 36 schools. It is home to 3,611 full-time faculty members, including 41 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. ZJU has 53,673 students, over 53 percent of whom are postgraduate students. The School of Public Affairs publishes the Journal of Chinese Governance (JCG) in which selected conference papers will be published in two special issues.
China is in a period of dramatic change in its economy, regulatory and government structure, and international role. This conference intends to analyze these changes and their implications for China’s future governance and international prospects. We invite papers that analyze policy innovation and institutional restructuring at the domestic level, as well as papers looking at China’s evolving role as a global actor. We are particularly interested in papers that employ novel theoretical frameworks and innovative methodological tools.
Exemplary conference papers will have the opportunity to be published in the Journal of Chinese Governance as well as to be considered for publication in the ACPS’s flagship journal, the Journal of Chinese Political Science. JCPS was recently accepted into SSCI, Clarivate (formerly Thomson Reuter) Social Sciences Citation Index.
