The 2024 ACPS annual conference, conducted online, was a resounding success. The virtual format facilitated broader participation from junior faculty worldwide, many of whom face ongoing challenges related to travel funding and other constraints. This inclusive strategy significantly contributed to the recruitment of many new ACPS members.
The theme of the conference was “Navigating the Dynamics of Chinese Politics: Domestic and Global Developments.” The event opened on December 6, 2024, with an evening keynote address by Simona Alba Grano (University of Zurich), titled “Cross-Strait Relations in Flux: International Implications of a Taiwan Conflict.” Conference papers were presented and discussed on December 7 and 8, 2024, organized into seven panels: China and Global Governance; China and the Global South – Africa; China and the Global South – Latin America; World Politics & Global Governance; Domestic Politics and State-Society Relations; Digital Dimensions of Chinese Politics; and China & (International) Political Economy.
